Balmoral Sailing Club

National E

Why is it fun?
Competitive two-person sailing in one of Sydney's best locations, with a friendly fleet and an enjoyable social side both on and off the water.

Why sail this class?
  • Great racing – close, competitive racing where tactics and teamwork really matter.
  • Two-person sailing – share the experience with a regular sailing partner, friend or family member.
  • Friendly and social – a welcoming fleet with plenty of camaraderie before and after racing.

Who is it suitable for?
The National E suits a broad range of sailors, from those developing their racing skills through to experienced and competitive sailors. Being a two-person boat makes it particularly enjoyable for couples, friends and family members who want to sail together. Sailors can enjoy the class at different levels, with plenty of opportunities to develop their skills and learn from the experience within the Balmoral fleet.

Sailing at Balmoral
Regular Saturday afternoon racing throughout the season, combined with a social club atmosphere. The fleet is competitive on the water but friendly off it, with members getting together after racing to share stories over a BBQ and a drink.

Getting started
If we can get a club boat, we can emphasise that people don't necessarily need to buy a boat before getting involved. Offering prospective members a test sail, the opportunity to crew with an existing sailor, or another way of trying the National E first would make the class much more approachable.
