Crew Register

What is the Crew Register?

The BSC Crew Register attempts to provide people who have registered their interest in crewing with opportunities to hone their sailing skills; gain further experience and confidence; and, enjoy sailing in the beautiful waters off Balmoral beach. Of course, the Crew Register also aims to help BSC skippers find a for’ard hand so they can get out on the water as often as they would like.

The BSC Crew Register can also connect a crew and a skipper who are both looking for a regular and ongoing sailing arrangement.

BSC member and Tasar sailor, Michael Payne, maintains the Crew Register (with backup from Lorraine Madden if he is unavailable).

Do I need to be a member of Balmoral Sailing Club to be listed on the Crew Register?

No, you don’t need to be a member of Balmoral Sailing Club to be listed on the Crew Register but skippers are strongly encouraged to give preference to BSC members when selecting crew from the Crew Register.

By signing the Visitor's Book, non-members will be provided with mandatory insurance for up to three sails each season. After that it is necessary to become a member of BSC to continue sailing.

Do I need to be a member of Balmoral Sailing Club to access the Crew Register?

Yes, only BSC members have full access to the Crew Register (including via the soon to be established password-protected link).

Need a crew?

To access the crew list, email Michael Payne by This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call or text him on 0425 275 398. You will be provided with the details of prospective crew so that you may contact them directly via phone or email.

For the Crew Register to work it is important that:

Crew

  • keep all details up-to-date especially phone, email and availability
  • respond rapidly to offers from skippers
  • remove themselves from the Crew Register if they accept a regular crewing position

Skippers

  • access the most up-to-date copy of the Crew Register every time they require a crew
  • immediately advise Michael Payne by This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. when they successfully line up a crew from the Crew Register (This means the Crew Register can be updated to state that that particular crew is unavailable the coming Saturday thus saving other skippers contacting people who are no longer available)
  • consider the experience of prospective crew in light of prevailing weather conditions

Maximum of three sails for free!

BSC encourages everyone to discover the joy of sailing but for our club to thrive, without membership fees increasing, we need to ensure that everyone who sails at BSC contributes his or her fair share by joining the club and contributing financially. By signing the Visitor's Book, non-members are provided with mandatory insurance and can sail up to three times each season at BSC. After that it is necessary to become a member to continue sailing. Skippers are asked to ensure their crew members comply.
