Marathon - Sat 11th March @ 13:30

Marathon Competition 2016

The annual Marathon race is scheduled for this Saturday 11th March at 13:30*. This is half an hour earlier than our normal start time. Briefing to start promptly at 12:15.

*Please Note (as per the BSC Sailing Instructions): "The scheduled time for the warning signal for the Marathon race is 13:24 hours."

The Marathon is the only event on our sailing calendar which is competed for on a mixed fleet basis using the Yachting Victoria Yardstick Ratings. Last year the Collins Class Submarine provided the stiffest competion and it is not clear if it will make an appearance again this year!

The fleet will again be split into two divisions with the Mirrors, Moths and Lasers etc only going as far as Shark Island and return. The other division which includes the 505s, Tasars, National Es and Fireballs (traditional visitors for this race) will sail the full course to Fort Denison and return.

The presentation of the Roger Quinn Memorial Trophy to the winners in each division will take place, at our Presentation Night on 20th May.

Visiting sailors are most welcome ($10 race fee) and everyone is invited to stay for the post-race barbecue.

Scheduled Duty Class: Mirror / Moth
